Click on the button above to register online for a formation day (English or Spanish) that focuses on the new Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. "The new translation explains the process we follow to fulfill our mission to bring people into a relationship with Christ in communion with the Catholic Church," explained Jeff Hines, diocesan faith formation director. During a formation day, "we will learn the roles and responsibilities of the parish community to accompany, invite, evangelize, catechize and celebrate the rites at the appropriate times for those who are on the journey to a sacramental encounter with Christ." For more information, contact Jasmine Hogan at (501) 664-0340, ext. 323.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a new translation for the process by which men and women become members of the Catholic Church in 2024. Formerly known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults along with the revised National Statutes for the Christian Initiation of Adults is now available for use in the dioceses of the United States. Parishes must use the new translation by March 5, 2025 (Ash Wednesday).
Parishes need a ritual edition for use in the liturgy and study editions for parish leaders of Christian initiation. Each will need a study edition to read, highlight and carry as he or she does the work of evangelization and catechesis. The Faith Formation Office recommends the following publishers for these materials. For more information, contact Jeff Hines, director of faith formation, or Deacon Marcelino Luna, associate director of faith formation, at (501) 664-0340.
