The Respect Life Office offers respect life grants to help support groups and organizations in the Diocese of Little Rock that promote a consistent ethic of life. Grants between $100 and $1,000 are awarded at the discretion of Bishop Anthony B. Taylor and are dependent on the availability of funds. Groups and organizations applying for a respect life grant are invited to reflect on how their mission and ministry promotes greater respect for the dignity of the human person and embraces a consistent ethic of life. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor will ordain 46 men to the permanent diaconate in two bilingual ordination Masses in June. The first Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 11 at Christ the King Church in Little Rock. The second will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 25 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Rogers. After their ordinations, they will serve in parishes across Arkansas. Pohlmeier relieved of his responsibilities as pastor of Christ the King Church in Little Rock, diocesan director of continuing education of the clergy, theological advisor, diocesan director of faith formation and diocesan director of permanent diaconate formation. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor issued the following statement, May 24, 2022, regarding Father Erik Pohlmeier being appointed bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine, Florida. "To the people of the Diocese of Little Rock: As of noon, Rome time today (5 a.m. in Little Rock), Father Erik Pohlmeier has been named the next bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine, Florida. The Vatican announced today that Pope Francis appointed Father Erik Pohlmeier the next bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine in Florida. He succeeds Bishop Felipe J. Estévez, who has served as bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine for the past 11 years and is retiring. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor will ordain Deacons Jaime Nieto and Daniel Wendel to the priesthood at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28 at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock. A reception will follow the Mass in McDonald Hall. The night before, on Friday, May 27, a holy hour to pray for them and for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral.
