Join our seminarians Saturday, Aug. 5 for the 2023 Taste of Faith dinner celebrating priestly vocations in Arkansas. This event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock and will feature the premiere of "Why Priesthood?" a video about why seminarians decide to answer the call.
"They want to be priests so that it’s a little easier for you to follow Christ. They want to be priests so that Christ can continue to feed you with his body and blood. The past several years have shown me that you want that too, and the people of our diocese go above and beyond to help these young men get there," explained Father Jeff Hebert, vocations director, in this year's Taste of Faith letter to past donors.
"This year, we would like to celebrate these reasons men become priests at Taste of Faith. We would like to celebrate why priesthood becomes these men’s purpose in life; why you become their purpose in life. We hope that you will be able to join us there, but if you can’t, it will be broadcast live for you to enjoy!"
In addition to the video, there will be interviews with seminarians and vocation stories from Joel Brackett and Duwan Booker. You won't want to miss it. For those unable to attend in person, the night will be livestreamed on the Diocese of Little Rock Facebook page (facebook.com/cdolr) and Taste of Faith website (tasteoffaith.org) beginning at 7:30 p.m.
If unable to watch live, the video will be available to watch any time after the show. If you want to support our seminarians now, you may donate online any time at: tasteoffaith.org/give.
Taste of Faith is a fundraising dinner to help pay for seminarian education in our diocese. In addition to the meal, attendees are treated to music, entertainment and testimonials from the seminarians and talks from the diocesan vocations director and bishop. It is estimated to cost the diocese $36,000 a year to educate and provide for the living expenses of one seminarian. This includes tuition, room and board, health insurance and other needs. With the increases in cost and seminarians, we need your help to form our future priests. Taste of Faith is hosted by the Stewardship and Development Office and Vocations and Seminarians Office. For more information, contact Dianne Brady, director of stewardship and development, at (501) 664-0340, ext. 391.
