Memorial of St. Boniface, bishop, martyr and 16th Episcopal Anniversary

I don’t know of any other historically, English-speaking diocese that has such a high percentage of young priests able to minister in Spanish. We now have weekend Mass in Spanish in 52 of our 130 churches, and fully one-third of our people at Mass on a given weekend are attending Mass in Spanish. St. Bonface the missionary would be proud, as am I.
Priesthood Ordination of Deacon Cody Eveld

If we trust in Jesus, he who is our Good Shepherd will lead us to the green pastures we long for and to the table that he has prepared for us in the land of the living. He will accompany us through the valley of the shadow of death — all the ups and downs of life — and he will protect us with his rod and staff that give us comfort.

If I had not gone in to hear those confessions, I would not have experienced, in that way, just how much the Holy Spirit had already empowered me without me being especially conscious of it: I discovered his power by using it.
Deacon Ordination of Joel Brackett

It is the self-sacrificing gift of yourself to the Lord, and so you promise not only to do what I ask you to do, but also to do so with a listening, loving heart.
Ascension of the Lord 2024

And so Josh, I encourage you and all our other seminarians to keep in mind that as you prepare to proclaim God’s word to others, you also make sure to fully accept that word yourself, with all of its challenging implications, in obedience to the Holy Spirit.
2024 Sixth Sunday of Easter, Year B

Is such a love even possible for us humans? Jesus says to love each other as he loves each of us. So he apparently thinks this is possible — maybe difficult — but still possible, and he shows us the way.
2024 Fifth Sunday of Easter, Year B

If Jesus is the nourishment that gives life to all the branches of the vine, isn't it obvious that the Eucharist is the sacramental means by which we receive that nourishment? His body united to ours, his blood now flowing in our veins.
Fifth Grade Vocations Day 2024

Can you honestly say that Jesus is your best friend? If he is, then doing what he asks will be easy because your “yes” to him is solid. And believe me, he wants to be your best friend. He’s already there right by your side whether you realize it or not.
Easter Vigil Mass 2024

Today is Jesus’ day of victory. It can be our day of victory too. Those who are united with Jesus in likeness to his death will share in a like resurrection. This share in Jesus’ victory begins in this life for those who have been born again in baptism and live already the life of the Kingdom of God. And it continues in eternal life for those who share fully in Jesus’ victory.
Good Friday of the Lord's Passion 2024

Anger implies that God owes us something that he has not delivered. Anger exalts our will over God’s will and certainly does not “hallow” his name. What did Job say after losing practically everything? “The Lord has given and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord!”
Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper 2024
Published: Thursday, March 28, 2024
The opportunity to receive Jesus’ body and blood offered in sacrifice for our salvation was not to be a one-time event at the Last Supper. Jesus appointed his apostles to continue to make him present for future believers in the Eucharist offered in his memory. That is why in every Catholic Church we have an altar of sacrifice; not merely a communion table.
2024 Solemnity of St. Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Just like the Holy Family had to flee to Egypt, presumably without authorization, many other Josephs are forced to do the same thing to protect their children and provide for their families today.
2024 Second Sunday of Lent, Year B
Published: Sunday, February 25, 2024
If you are not bearing a cross, making sacrifices in order to live for something bigger than yourself, you are not following Jesus because his path to glory leads through Calvary. If you embrace your cross with love, one day you will receive a crown, but otherwise, not.

Part of God's power consists in his ability both to respect our freedom to choose evil and then, at the same time, to be able to bring good out of the suffering caused by sin or disasters. God can write straight with crooked lines. So when Jesus's adversaries chose to execute an innocent man, God took this evil act and used it for our salvation.

What we do with our life matters. Each of us has a choice: Where do we place our allegiance? The kingdom of this world or the Kingdom of God?
