The Diocese of Little Rock will join other dioceses across the United States in participating in the three-year, "National Eucharistic Revival: My Flesh for the Life of the World" beginning in June. Two Masses will be celebrated in Little Rock and Rogers to kick off the observance in Arkansas, which aims to increase devotion to and belief in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. "Since the time of St. Augustine, the Catholic Church has used the Just War theory to help discern when and how force might be applied in the defense of the nation in time of conflict — a timely topic in these days of Russian aggression against Ukraine. We enter into Lent this year after two years of pandemic and now the threat of war. Pope Francis is appealing to everyone "believers and non-believers alike" to make Ash Wednesday a "day of fasting for peace on March 2." He said his "heart aches greatly" for the situation in Ukraine, which was attacked by Russia Feb. 24. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor announced the following pastoral appointment, Feb. 2, 2022, for the Diocese of Little Rock. Effective Feb. 6: Rev. Polycarp Ssebbowa, suspended from the office of pastor of St. James Church in Searcy and St. Richard Church in Bald Knob, because of a delay in his immigration case. He will be residing at Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock.
