Bishop Anthony B. Taylor will ordain Deacons Jaime Nieto and Daniel Wendel to the priesthood at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28 at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock. A reception will follow the Mass in McDonald Hall.
The night before, on Friday, May 27, a holy hour to pray for them and for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral. All are invited to attend these events.
Deacon Nieto, 32, will celebrate his first Masses on Sunday, May 29. This includes the 10:30 a.m. Mass in English and the 12:30 p.m. Mass in Spanish at St. Raphael Church in Springdale. He will begin his first assignment on July 1 as associate pastor of St. Theresa Church in Little Rock.
Nieto is the son of María del Carmen Nieto Bautista of Springdale. He recently completed his studies for the priesthood at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. To learn more about him, read his vocation story.
Deacon Wendel, 26, will celebrate his first Mass at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 29 at Christ the King Church in Little Rock. He will begin his first assignment on July 1 as associate pastor of St. Raphael Church in Springdale.
Wendel is the son of Dr. Paul and Kathy Wendel of Little Rock. He recently completed his studies for the priesthood at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. To learn more about him, read his vocation story.
