"They will look upon him whom they have pierced" (John 19:37). He is nailed to the cross and from there is still calling us to look at him. How our hearts are moved by his suffering and offering. Many members of the body of Christ are being crucified and nailed to the cross today. Who would you see on that cross? The vulnerable and defenseless in society, the unborn children, the poor, the immigrant, victims of violence and war, victims of an economic system that benefits a few, people suffering from addictions, people nailed by the indifference of many of us who call ourselves Christians. "… Many people have blood on their hands as a result of their comfortable and silent complicity" (Pope Francis, "Evangelii Gaudium", 211). Perhaps through our discipleship, we can unite our own sufferings and find our face among these crucified people in the world. We pray that we can find our face in Jesus' face being nailed to the cross for our salvation.
