Hello, brothers and sisters in Christ! My name is Whitney and I am currently a senior attending McNeese State University. I am also the coordinator for Cowboy Awakening #81, which will be held in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I am writing to you to request your prayers for our upcoming retreat. Awakening is a college-aged retreat that originated right here at McNeese in 1974, and has now spread throughout hundreds of campuses all over the United States. They emphasize a relationship with Jesus through the sacraments, prayer, fellowship and community. Through this retreat, we hope to "awaken" the McNeese campus to the love of God. I have witnessed the fruit of this retreat several times, and it has been such a life-changing experience for many. One of the most integral parts of the retreat is the need for prayer. After this talk, they will be surprised with a package of letters specifically written to them from close family and friends, the retreat staff, and others like you who are praying for them. I can only imagine how many graces are obtained for us through so many intercessors. These prayers are truly the backbone of the retreat. In addition to your prayers, we also ask that you write one letter to the participants of this retreat informing them that you have been praying for them, especially during the weekend of the retreat (Oct. 18-20, 2024).
