Each year four Arkansas Catholic parishioners receive $1,000 scholarships from Little Rock Scripture Study to assist them in pursuing college degrees in fields such as theology, Scripture, sacred music, canon law, liturgy, pastoral administration or religious education. This year, the deadline to apply for the Scholarship for Studies Preparing for Lay Ministry is Friday, May 5.
Active Catholics who are enrolled in college or graduate school may receive more information about the scholarship by contacting Cackie Upchurch, director of Little Rock Scripture Study, at (501) 664-0340.
Little Rock Scripture Study is an internationally recognized ministry that is committed to providing Catholic Bible study materials and experiences to help adults encounter Christ in a personal way, apply core biblical teachings to daily living and increase commitment to the believing community. Prayer, study, small group faith sharing and integrating lectures provide the framework for these Bible studies, which are offered in English and Spanish. In addition to its Bible studies, Little Rock Scripture Study publishes articles in Arkansas Catholic, the newspaper for the Diocese of Little Rock. These articles cover themes from both the Old and New Testaments. The current series, "Blessed Are You: The Beatitudes," continues through November and is available on this website.
