"Through this appeal, you can help people living in poverty and struggling on the margins of society by giving them a hand up. One-fourth of the funds received remain with Catholic Charities of Arkansas to assist the poor and vulnerable. Thank you for being generous in your response to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development collection." — excerpt, parish bulletin announcement, Diocese of Little Rock
This special collection is taken up in all parishes across Arkansas. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development works to uphold the dignity of human life by breaking the cycle of poverty in the United States through grants to local community-based groups that create jobs, improve education and strengthen neighborhoods. Twenty-five percent of this collection remains in our diocese to fund our local anti-poverty projects. For more information, contact the Stewardship and Development Office at (501) 664-0340.
"In the United States, more than 11 percent of the population lives in poverty. Through this collection, you support programs that address the root causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those struggling across the country," according to the parish resource guide from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. "Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and those working on the margins. More information about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development can be found at www.usccb.org/cchd." See also bulletin insert.
