Little Rock Scripture Study recently awarded three, $1,000 scholarships to the following people who are completing their lay ministry studies:

  • Heather Crouch is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in theology from St. Gregory's University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She coordinates the young adult group at St. Peter the Fisherman Church in Mountain Home, as well as offers a support group for those in the parish with depression or other emotional needs.
  • Megan Mayeux is also pursuing a bachelor’s degree in theology from St. Gregory's University. Crouch and Mayeux both do much of their course work through the Little Rock Theology Institute, along with summer programs at the campus in Oklahoma. Mayeux works at St. Joseph School in Paris and is active in her home parish of St. Mary Church in Altus.
  • Carlee Darnell, a member of St. Mary Church in Hot Springs, attends Christian Brothers University in Memphis where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in religion and philosophy. Darnell hopes to pursue youth or young adult ministry after she graduates in 2019. She was recently awarded the De LaSalle Service Award that recognizes excellent student leadership.

Each year, Arkansas Catholic parishioners receive $1,000 scholarships from Little Rock Scripture Study to assist them in pursuing college degrees in fields such as theology, Scripture, sacred music, canon law, liturgy, pastoral administration or religious education.

Little Rock Scripture Study is an internationally recognized ministry that is committed to providing Catholic Bible study materials and experiences to help adults encounter Christ in a personal way, apply core biblical teachings to daily living and increase commitment to the believing community. Prayer, study, small group faith sharing and integrating lectures provide the framework for these Bible studies, which are offered in English and Spanish. In addition to its Bible studies, Little Rock Scripture Study publishes articles in Arkansas Catholic, the newspaper for the Diocese of Little Rock.
