CRS is the official overseas relief and development agency of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Worldwide, CRS works in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Most of the poorest people in the world are low-income farmers, and so a major focus of CRS is agricultural assistance.

Fair trade is a model of international trade that provides a clear and just alternative to the free trade system. Fair Trade is built on direct human relationships between consumers and producers that reflect Catholic Social Teaching. It respects human dignity, promotes economic justice and cultivates global solidarity.

The CRS Fair Trade Program supports low-income farmers and artisans and helps them enter the U.S. Fair Trade market. In the United States, the program creates opportunities for Catholics to make trade fairer for poor farmers and artisans through the purchase of Fair Trade products.
