Mercy Hospital Fort Smith will feature a series of performances by the Fort Smith Symphony in December. Beginning Monday, Dec. 4 the hospital will have seven performances in the atrium of the Mercy Medical Building and five performances in the Mercy Medical Tower, where many of the former Cooper Clinic practices are located. Martin Schreiber, vice president of mission at Mercy Fort Smith, said, “What we’re trying to do is create a sense of coming home. Mercy cares about creating a culture of oneness and dignity for our community, co-workers and patients.” The public is invited to attend “Sacred Sounds at Mercy” at no charge. Performances begin at 10 a.m. and will last approximately 1½ hours. John Jeter, executive director of the Fort Smith Symphony, said the healing powers of music have been known for thousands of years. Other performances will be held Dec. 11-14, 18-21 and 27-28.
