Group helps alcoholics, families to heal

Published: September 21, 2015

The Calix Society of Central Arkansas helps alcoholics in recovery and their families come together to find support and spiritual healing. The chapter is part of a national organization, which was founded in 1947 in Minnesota. It is a Catholic support group that is guided by a chaplain and open to people of all faiths.

All are welcome to attend the monthly meetings including family and friends who are affected. The group is sponsored by the diocese's Alcohol and Drug Ministry, a program of Catholic Charities of Arkansas.

Each gathering begins at 5:30 p.m. with Mass in Lafferty Chapel in Fletcher Hall on the campus of St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock. A meeting follows until 7 p.m.

The next Calix Society Mass and meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 8. Visit our calendar to find the complete schedule. For more information, call (501) 664-0340, ext. 336. To learn more about the Calix Society, please visit www.calixsociety.org.
