Catholic High School in Little Rock will host the 13th Annual Rocket 5K Run at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 22. The event, featuring a challenging 5K, a 3K Walk, and Kids’ Rocket Dash for children 10 and under, is held at the school. “The theme ‘It’s tough; Get over it,’ is earned because the 5K is on a course that runs through the rolling hills of Little Rock,” said Steve Appleton, chairman of this year’s race. “We hope to have runners and walkers from throughout the state compete to show what they are made of. But we also make sure it is family friendly by offering a race for every pace.” The event also includes a 3K walk where participants are encouraged to bring their dogs to walk with CHS’s newest German Shephard, Titus, who lives at the school and who will be celebrating his first birthday at this year’s race. “The Kids’ Rocket Dash will be on the track where 1-5 year olds will participate in a 100-meter dash and 6-10 year olds will run a 300-meter dash,” said April Findley, chairwoman of the Kids’ Rocket Dash. “There will also be activities for the kids before and after the race such as an obstacle course, a bounce house, and more.” Register online at www.lrchs.org, or at the school on race day starting at 6:30 a.m.
