November is National Adoption Month. This year's theme, "We Never Outgrow the Need for Family — Just Ask Us" draws attention to our nation's population of older youth in foster care who need loving, permanent families.

In Arkansas, there are 500 children in foster care who are available for adoption and waiting for a forever family. Teens are among the most difficult to place because of their age. Every year, about 250 teens between 18 and 21 “age out” of the foster care system without a permanent family connection.

The Christian initiative, Children of Arkansas Loved for a Lifetime (CALL) and the Arkansas Heart Gallery offer information about the children in the foster care system waiting to be adopted.

Arkansas Heart Gallery is a program of the Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Children and Family Services. This website also offers details about the process, how to get started and who to contact.

If you wish to adopt an infant, contact Catholic Adoption Services, a non-profit, Arkansas-licensed, child placement agency and ministry of Catholic Charities of Arkansas. With more than 30 years of experience, the experienced staff is available to help you grow your family.
