Flag Day

Friday, June 14, 2024

Location: Nationwide

On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress approved the design for our first national flag. President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation establishing June 14 as a national flag day in 1916. Later, U.S. Congress passed legislation to permanently establish the date as a national flag day, and President Harry Truman signed it into law in 1949. U.S. presidents have been issuing a flag day proclamation on this date every year since. See American flag etiquette.
